Join the AIA Colorado Building Enclosure Council (BEC) on
Wednesday, July 11, from noon - 1 p.m., for
Skin and Bones: Breaking Structural Façade Design Down to its Essence, a presentation by Christopher O’Hara, PE, SECB, PA, of Studio NYL. The presentation will take place at JE Dunn (
Colorado Center - Tower One, 2000 S. Colorado Blvd., 5th Floor, Denver, CO 80222).
The presentation discusses how to realize architectural vision by designing systems rather than specifying proprietary products. It will do this by examining the fundamentals of how the elements of the façade perform and reassembling them in unique ways to create more efficient and elegant systems that perform as well or better than traditional systems. Systems that will be reviewed and discussed in detail will include but are not limited to all glass structures, point fixed structures, tensile façade systems, structural silicone systems, mega-panel and modular glass systems. There will also be a discussion of some recent projects using digitally fabricated metal skins, ductal skins, GFRC and fiber reinforced polymers.
Attendees can earn 1.0 AIA HSW continuing education learning unit (LU). Under the state of Colorado’s rules for continuing education for state licensure renewal, this program meets the requirements for 1.0 HSW CEH.
This program is free for all AIA Colorado members, including Professional Affiliate members.
