Jim
has been engaged in architecture his entire life. Design and purpose behind the
places we occupy and the life cycle of our built environment are the tenets of
his practice. Jim holds a master’s degree in architecture and is Owner and
Principal of an energetic and innovative architecture firm. Currently serving
as AIA Colorado West chapter 2012 board of directors president, Jim believes
that AIA is instrumental in defending and growing the profession of
architecture.

has 30 years of experience in the design and construction industry, including
design/build, architectural design, facilities master planning, project
management and construction administration. John has designed numerous
commercial, industrial, municipal, residential, religious, educational and
retail projects in steel, wood, masonry and concrete, and has designed
buildings having alternative energy sources, alternative building systems and
sustainable materials. John has a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Oregon,
and holds registrations in Colorado, Washington, Wyoming and Utah.

Heidi
is a 40-year resident of Aspen and received her bachelor’s degree in political
science and master’s degree in architecture from the University of Colorado at
Boulder (prior to the program moving to Denver). One of the first members of
AIA Colorado West when it was incorporated in 1979, Heidi is sole practitioner
H3 Architects. Her prior experience in hospitality and residential single- and
multi-family design translated into a firm focus on community housing (deed
restricted and free-market). Heidi is a member of the Rotary Club of Aspen and
serves on the board of the Independence Pass Foundation. She has a loving
husband, Tom Griffiths, and cat, Bella, who support her passion for training
and competing in triathlons.

Scott
established Studio B architects in 1991 and serves as design principal of the
firm. He graduated from the Rohde Island School of Design with a bachelor’s in
fine arts and a bachelor’s in architecture, was selected the Colorado AIA Young
Architect of the Year and was elevated to the College of Fellows in May of 2011.
His firm has garnered more than 50 AIA design awards and their work has been
published extensively. He lectures and teaches on the firm’s process and work
and is currently directing several residential commissions and oversees the
studio’s emerging civic and municipal work. His work emphasizes research and
the development of materials and methodologies which are critical to the firms
design process.

Rick's more than 35 years in practice he has worked on numerous public and
private projects, including work for three Native American Tribes (Navajo,
Southern Ute and Ute Mountain Ute), certified historic preservation projects,
urban design project charrettes such as Three Springs and Chaco Trails, and the
City of Durango Main Street Visioning Project. He has worked on sustainability
projects since the 1970s, and was the architect for award-winning historic
preservation projects as well as the design of significant new projects located
within nationally designated historic districts.

before transferring to Stanford
University where he
received a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Steve joined Shaw
Construction as a project manager in 1983 and established its Western Slope
Division in Grand Junction,
Colo. He worked his way up
through the company and became president and majority owner in 1995. Since
then, Shaw Construction has grown to be one of the leading construction
companies in the region with offices in Denver, Grand Junction, Colo.,
and Jackson, Wyo. In the last 10 years, the company has
received four Eagle Awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors for the
best projects in the nation. Steve is also currently a board member for the
School District 51 Foundation, a director of Palisades National Bank and a
member of the Colorado Forum.
