Integrating Design and Performance: AIA Denver 2008 High-Performance Design Conference

AIA Denver hosted Integrating Design and Performance, on Friday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the PPA Events Center (2105 Decatur St., Denver, CO 80211).

This exciting, one-day conference featured a range of speakers who focused on practical methods for developing high-performance buildings that also embody great design.

Speakers included:

AIA Colorado 2008 Design Conference & Practice Management Symposium

The AIA Colorado 2008 Design Conference & Practice Management Symposium took place Sept. 25-27, at the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa. The conference theme is Design Forward, and the conference committee assembled a group of speakers that inspired attendees to focus their efforts both on design excellence and creating a more environmentally-conscious, community-driven and socially-responsible profession.

The conference opened with the Practice Management Symposium on Thursday, Sept. 25. This annual symposium gives attendees the opportunity to learn practical skills for managing a design firm or business. The Practice Management Symposium is a wonderful opportunity for young architects and interns to learn more about the business side of the architectural profession.

The Design Conference, on Sept. 26-27, provided attendees with the opportunity to earn continuing education credits, mingle with other design industry professionals and attend exciting lectures, keynote presentations and breakout sessions. The conference featured a number of exciting speakers, including Alex Steffen, Gregory Papay, FAIA, James Timberlake, FAIA, James Polshek, FAIA, Sandy Mendler, AIA, Gary Lawrence and Randy Brown, FAIA.
