Political Action Committee

What is a Political Action Committee?

A political action committee, or PAC, is a non-profit political organization created for the specific purpose of promoting legislative interests and raising funds for this purpose. ARCpac will focus on the interests of Colorado registered architects, whether AIA members or not. AIA dues are not a part of ARCpac and membership in the Political Committee is fully voluntary and separate from AIA.

Why do Colorado Architects Need a PAC?

A group of architects recognized that our profession is significantly influenced by elected officials and the actions they take. We need to have a more active role in the election process and raising funds for that purpose. In today's political environment, ARCpac will make these efforts more effective, by creating another tool to support our collective interest.

Who Can Be a Part of the PAC?

All licensed Colorado architects may be a part of this organization upon contributing to ARCpac. Any individual, firm, company or partnership with a vested interested in the architectural profession can contribute to ARCpac. Contributions to ARCpac are limited to $500 per person or firm for each election cycle.

Who Gets the Money from a PAC?

ARCpac will distribute all of its money during election years to political candidates running for state office, regardless of party affiliation. ARCpac will strive to identify and contribute to those candidates who support issues of interest to architects.

How is a PAC Effective?

ARCpac will be effective with legislators and other elected officials because it represents the collective political arm of 6,000 Colorado architects and our supporters, acting as one influential voice.

Who Decides How the PAC Distributes its Money?

The Executive Committee of ARCpac will make decisions about who will receive ARCpac money. Contributions cannot be declared to any specific candidate.
