This seminar addresses the key early design parameters for developing carbon-neutral buildings, distinguishes carbon intensive uses of energy from less carbon intensive uses of energy, discusses how to prioritize the most cost-effective energy conservation measures in advance of selecting renewable energy solutions and how to better zone building surfaces for generating heat and/or electricity.

2009 International Building Code Overview.

This class explores the major provisions of the 2009 International Building Code. The presentation includes discussions of the provisions addressing the following issues: occupancy classification, types of construction, means of egress, fire sprinklers and fire-resistive-rated construction, administrative provisions and accessibility. This class is designed to provide an introduction to the new provision of the code.
The class qualifies for 7.5 AIA HSW continuing education hours (CEH). Under the state of Colorado’s rules for continuing education for state licensure renewal, this program meets the requirements for 7.5 HSW CEH.

June 8: AIA Colorado North Code Class: 2012 Accessibility Update

Friday, June 8, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. for the
2012 Accessibility Update code class. The program will be held at the 29th St. Mall Community Meeting room, located across from Cantina Laredo at the corner of 29th and Canyon (
1685 29th St., Ste. #1268, Boulder, CO 80301).
This class will review the changes from the 2009 edition to the 2012 edition of the International Building Code and referenced ICC A117.1 Standard. The background behind many of the changes will be discussed to provide the participant with an understanding of the intent of the changes and how to apply it to their everyday work.
The class qualifies for 7.5 AIA HSW continuing education hours (CEH). Under the state of Colorado’s rules for continuing education for state licensure renewal, this program meets the requirements for 7.5 HSW CEH.
