Sustainable Architecture Exhibition at Denver International Airport

AIA Colorado, in conjunction with Denver International Airport’s (DIA) Art & Culture Program, is hosting Sustainable Architecture. The exhibition will be on display in Denver International Airport’s Ansbacher Hall (located along the walkway between Jeppesen Terminal and the A Gates security checkpoint). There is no cost to view Sustainable Architecture.

The exhibition is designed to showcase the sustainable design work by Colorado architecture firms. Photos, renderings and architectural models are included in this 24-piece exhibition, which features the work of 14 Colorado architecture firms. Sustainable Architecture will be on display through September 2012.

Last Chance! Update Your Firm's Information: 2012-13 Firm Profile & Membership Directory

AIA Colorado is currently working on the 2012-13 Firm Profile & Membership Directory. Firm principals or firm marketing personnel, please complete this online form no later than Monday, May 21, to be included in this year’s directory. There is no cost to be included in the directory.

Individual members’ information will be pulled from the AIA National netFORUM database, so if you have not updated your contact information after a residence or employment change, please call AIA Colorado at 303.446.2266. Please forward this on to colleagues and friends who may need to update their information.

2012 Design Awards: Call for Entries Now Available!

All AIA Colorado members are invited to submit their top projects for their corresponding 2012 Design Awards. For more information about the call for entries, contact Jenna Cather at jenna@aiacolorado.org or 303.446.2266, ext. 112.

Entry forms are due by noon on Friday, June 8, in the AIA Colorado office (303 E. 17th Ave., Ste. 110, Denver, CO 80203). Submittals are due on Friday, July 13, at noon, (regular deadline), and Friday, July 20, at noon (late deadline, $50 surcharge applies), in the AIA Colorado office.

AIA Colorado South Design Awards
Awards categories include built architecture, unbuilt architecture and interiors. For more information, download the Call for Entries or download the Submittal Guidelines.

The design awards submittals will be juried by David Tryba, FAIA, and an esteemed panel of jurors. David is the founding principal of the Denver-based architecture, urban design and planning firm with a national reputation for design excellence. The AIA Colorado South 2012 Design Awards Gala will be held on Friday, Aug. 24, at The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center. More information about the gala will be available shortly.

AIA Colorado West Design Awards
Awards categories include commercial/residential, economy of means, historic preservation/remodel, residential design, innovative detail, interior design and unbuilt. For more information, including submittal guidelines, download the Call for Entries or download the Submittal Guidelines.

The design awards submittals will be juried by Patrick Tighe, FAIA, and an esteemed panel of jurors. Tighe is the principal and lead designer of Tighe Architecture, a firm that is committed to creating an authentic, contemporary architecture informed by technology, sustainability and building innovation. Since the inception in 2001, a strong and diverse body of projects has been realized that include city developed affordable housing, commercial, mixed use projects, civic art, installations and residences.

The AIA Colorado West 2012 Design Awards Gala will be held on Friday, Aug. 17, at the Viceroy Snowmass in Snowmass, CO. More information about the gala will be available shortly.

AIA Colorado North
Awards categories include residential (small or large), commercial, interiors, single architectural detail, or unbuilt architecture. For more information, download the Call for Entries or download the Submittal Guidelines.

The design awards submittals will be juried by Stephen Dynia, AIA, and an esteemed panel of jurors. Since the inception of his practice, Dynia, principal of Stephen Dynia Architects, PC (Jackson, Wyo.), has explored innovative architectural solutions that synthesize ideas from nature, universal design principles and urban culture. In rural or dense contexts, in public and private commissions, site analysis and user needs inform a process that shapes space, form and light into architecture that is unique to place, responsive to purpose and of its time.

In conjunction with the Design Awards Gala, the Northern Colorado Business Report and Boulder County Business Report will be publishing a special insert featuring all project submittals. Sponsors of the event will also have their logos included in the insert as an additional benefit. The AIA Colorado North 2012 Design Awards Gala will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, at The Dairy Center for the Arts (2590 Walnut St., Boulder, CO 80302). More information about the gala will be available shortly.

2012 Honor Awards: Call for Nominations!

The 2012 Honor Awards Committee is now accepting nominations for seven honor awards to be bestowed at the AIA Colorado North and AIA Colorado West Design Awards Galas. There is no fee to submit or nominate someone for these awards. The deadline for submissions is Friday, July 13.
